Good Morning Family!

So, I usually take the time in this newsletter article to either cover current church events, talk a little about the sermon for the day, express a thank you, or any number of things.

Today, I want to just relate what is swimming around in my head lately. I have been thinking about the level of clutter and noise in our lives. I am not talking about stuff sitting around the house or the volume of electronics around us. By clutter, I mean things or “busyness” that directs our attention away from the things of God. By noise, I mean the things or activities that hinder us from hearing from God through His Spirit and His Word. The static.

It’s more than difficult to speak to someone over a static filled phone line; let alone hear what they have to say. Or if you are traveling on the road and are listening to a radio station that is filled with static, you know there is some type of interference in the air between you and the source of the transmission. The interference is either from a rogue source or simply due to distance.

That may seem like a tired or even simplistic analogy, but I am convinced that Jesus was able to master all the static in His life. Jesus cut through the “busyness” and the “noise” and was able to communicate with His Father and carry out His will. Now, some would say, “Well, He was the Son of God after all. I can’t do that.” The reality is that He was the One who taught us to pray and by His life example He showed us the practicality of being able to master the “noise” of life and focus on our Father’s plan for us. He would not ask us to follow Him if it were impossible.

I want to ask you to pray for me as I believe the Lord may be directing a time of concerted corporate learning for us as His people to begin to seek to Biblically master the noise and static of life and walk in clarity.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
