From Your Pastor's Heart - December 31, 2017

Good Morning Family!

What a quick holiday season and what a quick year to go along with it!  Here we are on the edge of 2018.  New Year’s is always a time of reflection and looking forward.  I have been and hope to continue to do a little bit of both as I look ahead at 2018 for my family at home and my church family as well.  I know you are doing the same.

This morning I want to encourage you in reaching forward to godly goals and aspirations…dreams if you will.  I think sometimes we shy away from pursuing God’s best and replace it with good things.  As you walk with me through the sermon this morning, I am hoping together, we will be strengthened and equipped to really seek the Lord anew this year.

I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your kind cards of encouragement this Christmas and your servants heart in making our worship services pleasing to the Lord in worship and the Word.  Also, your cards and food gifts at Christmas of jellies, candies, rolls and breads, meatballs, and assorted goodies were greatly appreciated and much enjoyed.  Bro. Dale certainly is a Master of Divinity!

This is the final Sunday that we will be collecting for the “2017 FBCCF Loren Easley Christmas Missions Offering”.  This year, the proceeds will go toward the ministry of Pregnancy Lifeline in Reeds Spring.  Pregnancy Lifeline is a wonderful local ministry that we already support monthly as a church family.  Our goal this year is $500.  We are well on our way there!  Every dollar given will be forwarded to PLL and their work of encouraging responsible parenting and the pro-life cause.  Please mark Christmas Offering on your envelope as we give to this special cause above our normal giving.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”   II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve

From Your Pastor's Heart - December 24, 2017

Good Morning Family!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!  What an awesome morning to be together as the family of God to share in a celebration of our Savior’s birth!

This week and next, we will continue collecting for the “2017 FBCCF Loren Easley Christmas Missions Offering”.

So, far, we have lit the Advent candles of Hope, Peace, and Joy.  This morning we will light the final candle in the wreath and it is the candle of LOVE.  The saying is so true, that “love came down at Christmas”.   I am so in credibly grateful to the Heavenly Father for making me His son.  To be a child of God is the most meaningful present ever.  The sacrifice of Christ on the cross for you and for me was the most extravagant gift given.

Join together with your church family tonight at 6:30pm, where we will gather for our annual Christmas Eve Communion service.  That time together is very special and usually runs about 30-45 minutes.  Bring the family and share together in a quiet reflective time of celebration.

Although Christmas traditions and the celebration on the particular day of December 25th is of human origin, God has taken the imagination of Christians in the past in the early church and down through the centuries who formulated many of our traditions today and blessed them beyond expectation.  The pageantry of the songs, object lessons, and merriment are reflective of the joy that followers of Jesus experience when thinking of the grand expression of love that Father has demonstrated to us in sending Jesus, Our Emmanuel.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”                       II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve

From Your Pastor's Heart - December 17, 2017

Good Morning Family!

I know my letters to you this month have been rather repetitive.  But, I am wanting to make sure to keep several things in front of your eyes over the holidays: The Christmas Offering, the holiday schedule, and the Advent celebration.

Today, we continue collecting for the “2017 FBCCF Loren Easley Christmas Missions Offering”.  Funds will be collected all through December. This year, the proceeds will go toward the ministry of Pregnancy Lifeline in Reeds Spring.  We wanted to select a local mission this year.    Pregnancy Lifeline is a wonderful local ministry that we already support monthly as a church family.  Our goal this year is $500.  Every dollar given will be forwarded to PLL and their work of encouraging responsible parenting and the pro-life cause.  Please mark Christmas Offering on your envelope as we give to this special cause above our normal giving.

Each Sunday in December, we will light candles on our Advent Wreath and celebrate a different aspect the grace of the Father shown to us through Christ!  Today, we will look at the topic of “JOY”.  So far on each Sunday, we have looked at “HOPE’ and “PEACE”, and will culminate with “LOVE” on Christmas Eve morning.  Please, remember as we have been reminding everyone, that Christmas Eve happens to fall on Sunday this year.

On Christmas Eve morning, we will not have Sunday School.  We will only gather for worship at our normal time of 10:30am.  Then, at 6:30pm, we will gather for our annual Christmas Eve Communion service.  That time together is very special and usually runs about 30-45 minutes.  Bring the family and share together in a quiet reflective time of celebration.   So, mark your calendars!  Please refer to the bulletin for the other dates and things to remember for the month of December.

In the words of the angel on that night so long ago, let us come together this Sunday and truly understand God’s peace and see how Christ demonstrated His good will toward all mankind on the cross.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”                       II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro. Steve

From Your Pastor’s Heart   December 10, 2017                                                               Good Morning Family!

Winter seems to have arrived over the past few days!  I am so ready for some cooler weather to come our way.  I hope you are carving time out of your busy schedule to spend time with family during the holiday season.  And also pray for those who may be struggling through the holidays with loved ones who may have passed or with friends and family who live far away.  Pray for folks to focus on Christ and His hope, peace, joy, and love.

We continue collecting for the “2017 FBCCF Loren Easley Christmas Missions Offering”.  Funds will be collected all through December.             Today, we will look at the topic of “PEACE” as we light the Advent Wreath this second Sunday of Advent.  What a joy to look at the many aspects of the character of Christ who came to us as God wrapped in flesh so many years ago.  He is our peace.

Remember, on Christmas Eve morning, we will not have Sunday School.  We will only gather for worship at our normal time of 10:30am.  Then at 6:30pm, we will gather for our annual Christmas Eve Communion service.  That time together is very special and usually runs about 30-45 minutes.  Bring the family and share together in a quiet reflective time of celebration.   So, mark your calendars!  Please refer to the bulletin for the other dates and things to remember for the month of December.
