From the Pastor's Heart - April 16, 2017

Happy Resurrection Day!

I pray you have used this week to reflect upon the sacrifice of our Lord that brought about reconciliation between you and our Heavenly Father.  When we get that into perspective, our motives, attitudes and our actions tend to gravitate toward Christ.  The reality is that each day should be a day of clear reflecting on what Jesus did for us; because we are called to take up our own cross daily and die to self and live for Him.  He died for us, so that we could live for Him.

The cross being the very pivotal point in all of history was brought to its climax with the resurrection on Sunday Morning.  The resurrection of Jesus put the stamp of authority and blessing upon all that Jesus did and said during His ministry.  He foretold His own death and resurrection and it wasn’t until it was all said and done that His disciples put all the pieces of the “puzzle” together.

We are blessed in that we have the entire story in black and white, the Holy Scriptures.  We are able to see all of God’s dealings with man all along the way from creation to the cross to the second coming.  There is nothing for us to “put together” aside from our forsaking of our sin and turning to Christ.  If you ever want to know the overall will of God for your life, there it is.  There rest falls into place after that.

The humility it took for the Son of God to condescend and to go to the cross for you is simply breath-taking.  This calls for a complete breakdown of any of our pride as we come to the One who gave all for us.  There is no room at the cross for self.  There is no room in the life of a follower of Jesus for self.  It is all for Him!

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
