From Your Pastor's Heart - April 30, 2017

Good Morning Family!

          II Timothy 3:16-17 says:

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Apart from the God’s Written Word, you and I would have no compass, no chart, and no idea at all what God wants of us.  Had He done all He has done and left no written record, we would be in the dark in regard to creation, and the many accounts of His working with His people in the Old Testament.  Had Christ come and no written testimony of His mighty acts been preserved, we would not know much, if anything at all after 2,000 years.

Language is the way man communicates person to person and from generation to generation.  Written language is the God-given vehicle through which accounts of history and stories from the past are relayed through the years.

The process of how we got the Bible is amazing.  The road that His words have travelled has been completely guided by the Him as He has watched over and preserved His Holy, complete, sufficient, trustworthy, and inerrant Scriptures down to us over the centuries.

My intent is to attempt to relay that story to you on Sunday evenings in the coming weeks.  I want to make it understandable, accessible, and relatable to your life.  It is one thing to believe your Bible is trustworthy and true; and it is another to be able to grasp onto its history of how it got into your hands.  I believe this is very important for all of us to be able to at least have some semblance of how we got the Bible.  So make plans to join us on Sunday nights for “How We Got the Bible”

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Dr. Steven Gann

Your Shepherd
