From Your Pastor's Heart - August 27, 2017

Good Morning Family,

This world is an easy place to become discouraged.  You can rattle off any number of things that are seemingly “off the rails” at any given moment.  Threat of nuclear exchange, terrorism, politicians gone off the deep end, culture becoming more and more hardened to violence and lack of modesty are just a few things that are at the forefront of the world’s spiral downward.

I am the first one to say that I grow weary of those things and tend to focus on them at times.  However, the Lord is still on His throne and wants to work through His people, their families, and His church to share the life-changing message of the Gospel in the midst of a world that is becoming increasingly more hardened to and even hostile to that message.  Here is the thing though; people are saved one at a time.  The culture cannot be redeemed salvation-wise.  Yes, culture can be affected by us being salt and light.  But, God is in the business of saving individuals and using His servants to tell of His wonderful love.

I was listening to Christmas music this week, because I don’t believe that those songs should be allocated to only December.  We should praise the Lord for sending His Son all year long.  Immanuel, “God with us”, Jesus coming to dwell with us is the most important event in all of history.  His sacrifice on the cross and resurrection are the culmination of His life and mission to save.  “You shall call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins” Matthew 1:21.

When I look at this world and compare its hopelessness to the HOPE of Christ, I cannot contain my expectation of His soon return!  Let’s focus on our families and His church and the peace in our hearts that only He can supply, even in the midst of dark ages in this world.  He is the LIGHT!

As always, my prayer is that we would all Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”        II Timothy 2:15.

Humbly  Yours,

Bro Steve
