From Your Pastor’s Heart - August 9, 2015

Good Morning Family,

Today, we are beginning a new section of the book of Romans.  We have completed one fourth of the book and now begin chapter 5 today.

I am pleased that you, as a church family are actively involved in the many opportunities for studying the scriptures here at FBCCF.  Discipleship is an integral part of our overall ministry and I am so encouraged by your involvement.  The scriptures tell us in Proverbs 27:17, “Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

This is true of all of us, men and women.  We all need each other.  The support and camaraderie in the family of God is indispensible in our lives.  As we study the scriptures together, we grow closer together and sharpen one another.  This blesses God’s heart as He sees His children focused on Him and His Word, together “in one accord” (Acts 1:14 2:1).

The prayer support given to each other as the family of God is indispensible as well.  Doesn’t it encourage your heart when you know God’s people are praying for you and your Christian brothers and sisters really care?  In many ways, our Christian family can at times be closer than blood relatives.  The bond we share in Christ is an evidence of our common salvation. Jesus said, “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” John 13:35.

We have many, many serious concerns and needs for prayer in our body right now.  Time in prayer is well spent as we, through prayer, engage our spirits with the Heavenly Father and demonstrate our reliance upon Him alone and our concern for others.

I suppose what I am trying to say I that we need to constantly remind ourselves that we need the Scriptures and each other to navigate this world and all that it is throwing at us.

As always, my prayer is that we would all Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”    II Timothy 2:15.

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
