From Your Pastor's Heart - December 18, 2016

Good Morning Family!

I will mention this first in all of my December newsletter articles: All through December, we are collecting for the “FBCCF Loren Easley Christmas Missions Offering”.  Funds will be collected all through December. This year, the proceeds will go toward the overseas missionary that we support known as “The Fisherman”.  The latest updates on his work are on the bulletin board outside the church office.  Our goal this year is $400.  This will go through Team Expansion, the sending authority for him.   Mark your donations to this fund clearly on your offering envelope.

I want to thank all of those who worked so hard on last week’s service.  What a great time we had together as we stepped back in time.  Our drama team did such a great job!  A lot of practice went into “Tis the Season.” After all the fun rehearsal time, the Sunday morning presentation for you was their very best time through the sketch.  The hard work definitely paid off with a humorous and sometimes touching performance.

Today’s theme, as we light the Advent Wreath, is JOY.  This is why we are devoting our service to songs celebrating the gift of Jesus.  The Father bankrupt Heaven as He sent Christ to be the Savior.  The “good tidings of great joy” are for “all people”.  Many in our congregation have been preparing special songs to share with the rest of the Body today.  It is their ay of demonstrating their love for Jesus and their JOY at His coming.

We look back at His first advent and feel the sense of real JOY that He gives to us at knowing He is our Savior and God.  And we also look with great JOY and anticipation toward His second advent when He will come as Judge and King of kings and Lord of lords.  He will come in all of His glory on that day and every eye shall see Him!  Imagine our JOY at His coming again for us!

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”  II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
