From Your Pastor's Heart - December 24, 2017

Good Morning Family!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!  What an awesome morning to be together as the family of God to share in a celebration of our Savior’s birth!

This week and next, we will continue collecting for the “2017 FBCCF Loren Easley Christmas Missions Offering”.  This year, the proceeds will go toward the ministry of Pregnancy Lifeline in Reeds Spring.  Pregnancy Lifeline is a wonderful local ministry that we already support monthly as a church family.  Our goal this year is $500.  We are well on our way there!  Every dollar given will be forwarded to PLL and their work of encouraging responsible parenting and the pro-life cause.  Please mark Christmas Offering on your envelope as we give to this special cause above our normal giving.

So, far, we have lit the Advent candles of Hope, Peace, and Joy.  This morning we will light the final candle in the wreath and it is the candle of LOVE.  The saying is so true, that “love came down at Christmas”.   I am so in credibly grateful to the Heavenly Father for making me His son.  To be a child of God is the most meaningful present ever.  The sacrifice of Christ on the cross for you and for me was the most extravagant gift given.

Join together with your church family tonight at 6:30pm, where we will gather for our annual Christmas Eve Communion service.  That time together is very special and usually runs about 30-45 minutes.  Bring the family and share together in a quiet reflective time of celebration.

Although Christmas traditions and the celebration on the particular day of December 25th is of human origin, God has taken the imagination of Christians in the past in the early church and down through the centuries who formulated many of our traditions today and blessed them beyond expectation.  The pageantry of the songs, object lessons, and merriment are reflective of the joy that followers of Jesus experience when thinking of the grand expression of love that Father has demonstrated to us in sending Jesus, Our Emmanuel.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”                       II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
