From Your Pastor's Heart - December 27, 2015

Good Morning Family!

Last week, our theme was JOY.  Today’s theme for the Advent lighting, reading, and sermon is PEACE.  If there is anything we need in this world, it is PEACE.

However, PEACE will never come until Christ returns in His glory to establish His kingdom upon the Earth.  “Peace on earth, goodwill toward men” is speaking of His peace and His goodwill; not peace between individuals and people having goodwill toward one another.  Jesus is the “Prince of Peace” and it is through His goodwill that He offers to us peace with God through His sacrifice on the cross as He bore our sin to Calvary.

He gives a peace to believers that is as sure as His Hope, Love, and Joy.  It is a “peace that passes understanding”.  One of my very best friends in the world is resting in the Lord’s peace at this moment.  At the time I am writing this, I just found out that after getting the “all clear” on a PET scan at Thanksgiving, he was told today (Monday) that he now has seven tumors in his brain that have metastasized.  The doctors have given him two months to live.

He has learned to rely on the Lord’s peace for his life many times over and now, unless the Lord intervenes, he will soon enter into His peace.  I know Dave’s family is strong and he is a tremendous witness for Christ.  I cannot imagine Dave not being around, but I must rest in the Lord’s peace as well.

Jesus tells us in John 14:27,Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  I choose to rest in Christ!

Again, I remind you that all through December, we will be collecting for the “FBCCF Loren Easley Christmas Offering”.  Funds collected will go toward getting copies of God’s Word for some of the children from the community to which we minister on a regular basis as well as a copy of the Bible for their parents.  Mark your donations to this fund clearly on your offering envelope.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”   II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
