From Your Pastor's Heart - February 11 & 18, 2018

Good Morning Family!

I turned on the TV tonight for a minute and saw the news of another impending “government shutdown”.  With all of the shenanigans going on in our government, the thought of that sounds mighty appealing.  But, we know that many important jobs are accomplished by many of our public servants and our military.   They rely on us keeping our word to supply them with what they need.

Now, when the government shuts down, it does so because of funding issues.  Someone either wants to spend too much or someone else wants to spend too little, or they argue over how funds are spent.  Any way you slice it, the government is spending money it doesn’t have in the first place.  All that aside…

Commenting on the government is not my purpose today.   My real purpose is to remind you that we live as ambassadors in this republic.  But, our “citizenship is in heaven”.  Jesus is the “Author and Finisher of our faith”.  The Father “owns the cattle on a thousand hills”.   His Kingdom will never end.

His kingdom will never be interrupted or shutdown either!  Not for even a millisecond.  We don’t vote on what He does or how He accomplishes His plans for us as individuals and for the world at large.  We cannot filibuster God.

God’s funding never runs dry.  He is never short on resources.  He doesn’t need any of the goods of the world, they are all His already.  We are only stewards of that with which He entrusts us.  He gives us just what we need to accomplish that which He wants us to complete.  Let us be faithful managers of the King.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”                          II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Dr. Steven Gann
