From Your Pastor’s Heart - January 17, 2016

Good Morning Family!

Although we enjoyed visiting family and some friends during our trip north for a late Christmas, it has been simply wonderful to be back home in Cape Fair.  As we were coming back into town last Monday evening, the sunset was a fiery red and pink that spread across the sky over the hills and then turned to a deep purple just before dark.  We unpacked our bags and settled in for a restful evening before getting “back at it”.

I cannot tell you how much I am looking toward 2016 and what the Lord has in store for us to do this year.  This is why I am going to spend a little bit of time with you this morning casting some vision.  We have been here nearly two years and the Lord has led us through some very exciting times and He is working through this church in some very mighty ways.

It is the Lord’s work and His work alone; we together are simply His vessels. His will is what we seek and as we do that, His work will continue to be accomplished through this church.  He has blessed our efforts in the Kingdom and He has also blessed our heart for people.

I am going to be sharing with you this morning some ways in which we will be refining what is already working and prayerfully make an even greater impact for His Name in Cape Fair and the surrounding area.

In the nearly two years I have been here, I am convinced the Lord has given this church a “shepherding ministry” for the families and children of this area.  There is so much hurt, confusion, apathy, and sometimes downright danger in some of the homes around us that it is mind-numbing to think about.  But God has called us to be salt and light and to be, literally, a lighthouse for many in this community.

We, who make up this local church called First Baptist, are fulfilling the Great Commission.  That is our ministry; share the Gospel, baptize new believers the Lord saves, and disciple believers.  I am so happy to be a part of this family that loves the Lord and cares about people.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”   II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro. Steve

Dr. Steven Gann
