From Your Pastor's Heart - January 21, 2018

Good Morning Family!

The writer of Ecclesiastes was definitely right.   There is a time for everything under the sun.  “There is a time to be born and a time to die…”  It’s the last part of that verse that can bring sorrow into our lives.  But, we know our Sovereign Lord has our very hairs numbered, He collects our tears in a bottle, and He knows our days.  This past week, First Baptist Church saw one its former members go to be with the Lord.

Our brother, Joe Britton was called home unexpectedly on this past Wednesday.  Our hearts go out to Louise and the rest of the Britton family as well as to many of you who knew Joe, Louise and their family well.   Robin and I met them only one time on a visit they paid to Cape fair several years ago.  They were faithful members here at First Baptist Church before the Lord brought us and grafted us into the family of God here.  But, we have heard your stories of their contribution to the ministry here and their investments in your lives.  By the time you read this, the memorial was this weekend in Texas.

We also want to extend our prayers and comfort to Gordon and Connie Sturgeon on the loss of Gordon’s brother Greg.  They had recently gone to visit him in Indiana and upon returning home, got word on Wednesday night that he had passed away.  As of this writing, Gordon and Connie are awaiting word on memorial arrangements.

Again, don’t forget to sign up for the Church Family Fellowship Groups.  These groups are open to everyone and we want to make certain that we all participate in getting to know one another better and better as the years go by.  The only way you will be left out of this effort is if you leave yourself out and don’t sign up.  I want to strongly encourage you to take advantage of this great time of fellowship once per month with a Fellowship Group.  We hope to begin these in February.  You will not regret being a part of this ministry.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”   II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
