From Your Pastor's Heart - January 24, 2016

Good Morning Family!

We finally got a bit of snow this winter.  The ice shut down school this week for a few days.  On Wednesday, our activities were cancelled due to the road conditions.  The rule of thumb for us here is that is Reeds Spring cancels school on a Wednesday due to the weather, then our activities will be cancelled as well.  We do not want to run the risk of running our church van on these back roads in inclement weather and endanger the kids or our driver.  We will also send out a robo-call as we did this last week to confirm the cancellation.

Thanks to Brent Sturgeon this week for coming up on Tuesday to help paint on of our classrooms!   That helped out so much and it looks great!  Several rooms got a makeover this past week.  The Junior High and High School rooms both have fresh paint and a new look for the new year.

I was so pleased with your response to the message last week.  Your ability to get on board with ministry objectives and jump in to help is amazing.  I am thankful for a wonderful church family that cares about our community enough to be outreach oriented and compassionate toward the children of this area and their families.

Our Business Meeting/Potluck last Sunday was well attended and an encouraging,  Christ-like spirit always is very evident.  I think we are one of the few churches that actually have fun at our Business Meetings!

On one more encouraging note: We had 66 in Sunday School last Sunday and 80 in worship.  We aren’t focused on numbers, but numbers are people and that is encouraging.  We are focused on people.

I pray you all have stayed warm and safe this past week as we are beginning to enter into the heart of winter time.  According to the calendar, we are only one month into winter.  That leaves us another two to which to look forward.  I don’t want snow on Sundays, but it is quite beautiful to see a blanket of white on the ground and sticking to every branch of these bare trees highlighting the beauty of the Lord’s creation.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”   II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro. Steve
