From Your Pastor's Heart - January 28, 2017

Good Morning Family!

The disciples did not know when they sat down for Passover that night with Jesus for that last time, that this would indeed become known throughout all history as the Last Supper.  Of course, He shared with hem that night the import of the evening they were experiencing.  Some of them got it and others maybe did not at that moment.  But. they would all understand when the Temple guards came to arrest Jesus in the Garden later that night that this night was about to be like no other.

Within the worship hour today, we will gather together as the family of God has for nearly two thousand years.  Some call it different things: Communion, The Lord’s Supper, The Eucharist, The Agape Feast, The Breaking of Bread, The Table of the Lord…

Whatever it may be called and while not going into all of the different interpretations and nuances of each, this morning we keep it very simple as Jesus did.  Christ’s purpose was for us to look back at the event of His sacrifice and remember, He asks us to look in at ourselves, and He plainly asks us to look forward to His return.  I am humbled to be able to share around His table with you today.

Once again, I am going to leave this in my letter as well as the bulletin announcements because it is so important and it is something that many of you as a church asked for us to do… don’t forget to sign up for the Church Family Fellowship Groups.  These groups are open to everyone and we want to make certain that we all participate in getting to know one another better and better as the years go by.  The only way you will be left out of this effort is if you leave yourself out and don’t sign up.  I want to strongly encourage you to take advantage of this great time of fellowship once per month with a Fellowship Group.  We hope to begin these in February.  You will not regret being a part of this ministry.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”   II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Dr. Steven Gann

Your Shepherd of the Hills
