From Your Pastor's Heart - January 3, 2016

Good Morning Family!

“Happy New Year!” is the traditional saying, but I should rather say, “Have a Joyful New Year!”  On our church sign today is not only my prayer for each of you; but it is also a promise to each of you from our Lord in Scripture. We should rejoice everyday for this promise of scripture below.

Just as Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus, I write to you this morning...

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God,

To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,  just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

What a wonderful passage of promises to those who called of God!  God, who chose and called us, has promised to bless “us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ”.  None of us who follow Christ and are walking as His disciples will ever lack anything we need to enable us to live lives that are pleasing to the Father.

We are His adopted children and are the recipients of having a standing before Him that is nothing short of miraculous.  We are “holy and without blame before Him in love”.  This is a blessing that is only because of His goodwill toward us.  This should bring great joy to each of us this morning, and all through this next year as we dig deeper and deeper into His Word together.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”   II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve

Dr. Steven Gann
