From Your Pastor’s Heart – July 12, 2015

Good Morning Family,

Today is a huge day!  Vacation Bible School begins tonight!  As you can clearly see, much groundwork has already been laid in décor.  What you cannot see is the work being put in on the game plan for the week.  Kitchen prep work, lesson planning, and craft time, and large group time preparations are all integral to the success of VBS.

I know I will miss someone, but I must attempt to thank some individuals anyway.  A huge thank you goes out to Tracy Hudson for heading up this effort and coordinating the rest of us to help “the Bible come alive” for our children.  Also, thanks go out to Amanda Barker, David Hudson, Dale and Judy Keel, and Robin Gann.  These folks have put in much, much time this week converting our facilities and it looks great!  Also, gratitude goes to Connie Sturgeon for putting together a week full of wonderful food for our children to enjoy.  We want to thank those who are putting together their talks this week for the kids in large group time.  Some of our folks will be in character as people from the Bible to share the Word with the kids.  Last, but not least, I want to thank those of you who have committed to help in VBS in any fashion throughout the week.  We could not do this without you!

Here is what I ask of the rest of you who may not be able to work in VBS each night.  First and foremost, I would ask you to pray.  Pray for the children that will come.  Pray that they would know that we love them and then that would translate into our being able to share the love of Christ with them.  Pray they would understand the Gospel and that some would be willing to give their lives to Christ in repentance and faith, and at the same time VBS would strengthen the faith of those who already know Him.

Pray for the homes from which they come.  There is a great darkness out there; a darkness that blinds and a darkness that hurts.  We are here to shine the light, the Light of Jesus.  Please pray that as we work toward “Family Night” on Thursday that parents would be at least willing to come see their children on the last night in VBS.

Secondly, since there will be no adult meeting on this coming Wednesday due to VBS utilizing the entire facility, I would also ask the entire congregation to plan on coming on Thursday Family Night at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary.  Since we care about our community, I would ask with you to set aside this next Thursday evening to come and be a part of this important night as we will have an audience with parents of some of the children to which we will be ministering.  Be there to pray.  Be there to connect with them.  Be there to be a friendly face.  The staff of VBS will be there every night; so please come and help us show how much Jesus cares for the families of our community.

Looking forward to a great week with the children of Cape Fair!

As always, my prayer is that we would all Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”    II Timothy 2:15.

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
