From Your Pastor’s Heart – July 19, 2015

Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!  What a great week of VBS!  So many of you put your all into this effort and made it a success.  Once again, huge thanks go to Tracy Hudson for heading up the Children’s Ministry here at FBCCF and to Amanda Barker for always going above and beyond as she works with Tracy.

Thanks to Connie Sturgeon and all the women who were in our kitchen on a nightly basis.  As I said last week, I will miss a name if I list everyone who either worked with the kids in different areas or worked in the kitchen during this past week.  But, please accept my heartfelt gratitude for all of your service to the King of kings.  The children know, in no uncertain terms, that you love them and that Jesus loves them through your service and ministry toward them.

We had a good crown on Family Night with many from FBCCF coming out to attend and to connect with the families of the children from the community.  It was so good to see you all mingling with the families that normally do not come to church and demonstrating the concern of Christ toward them.

Not all of our little ones have a Christian influence at home and that is a heartbreaking situation.  It can also lead to a sense of “What difference are we really making?” attitude in us if we are not careful.  I know this because I can slip into that mode of thinking, if I dwell on the darkness.  But, even the rich young ruler looked directly into the eyes if Jesus and walked away because he loved his money more than he wanted to follow Christ.  Whether it is money, drugs, alcohol, a lifestyle, or whatever has the person in bondage; all Jesus asks of us to faithfully proclaiming the Gospel to the community and world around us.

Ministry is a mixed bag for certain, pain and heartbreak at times for those we seem to not be able to reach (speaking of many adults in the lives of these children); and joy unspeakable for those that respond.  We are following up on a few of our young people this week regarding commitments they have made and hope to be able to share those with you in the due course of time.

Know this, our ongoing weekly ministry to these young people consistently proclaims the Gospel to them.  So, then, many times during an intensive time of ministry such as VBS, they will begin to move on the ongoing leading of the Lord in their lives.  Then, decisions and commitments will come to fruition during times like this past week.  The Lord’s blessing on you who lay the groundwork and invest in their live weekly.

As always, my prayer is that we would all Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”    II Timothy 2:15.

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
