From Your Pastor's Heart - July 3, 2016

Good Morning Family!

What a great day last Sunday with FBC Oak Grove Youth Choir! If you missed it, you truly missed a blessing. God showed up, as He always does, and the church worshipped and was challenged to worship.

I must say, I have seen many youth choir "performances" over the years and this was not a performance. This was a Spirit-led encounter with God through music and spoken word. You can’t "perform" worship. It is an awesome thing to begin watching worship and then get drawn into the act as you come to understand the deep devotion of those leading you and you yourself begin to contemplate, right along with them, the greatness of our Mighty God and Savior and His love for us. That happened in abundance last Sunday morning. I believe one of the most touching times of worship we have had in the last two years.

Tonight, we are praying for God to do the same. Not looking past this morning at all, but I would encourage you to make plans to attend this special evening we have set aside to be encouraged by the ministry of the Dysart Family. Their God-given talent is evident if you have heard them. I expect their ministry to the Body tonight to be inspiring and focused on Christ. I know you may have plans, but I would encourage you to take time from what you may be doing and join the Body to at least come for the 6:30 worship hour.

In God’s planning, they were passing through the area and we are hosting them for the evening as they move on to their next stop. We will receive a Love Offering for their ministry. It is so important that we support itinerant ministries like this. Your pastor and his lovely wife relied on this kind of support for more than several years of our ministry that God gave us as we travelled to churches ministering through music and the spoken Word years ago. It takes a special kind of faith to step out into ministry like the Dysarts. Perhaps, if you are providentially hindered from attending tonight, ask the Lord what He might have you do as we collect the Lord’s offering this morning.

Don’t miss what God has planned for church tonight, even if you can’t come to the fellowship ahead of time. I am praying for God to bless this evening with conviction and grace.

As always, my prayer is for you to, "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth." II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro. Steve
