From Your Pastor's Heart - March 11, 2018

Good Morning Family!

So, there are times when words fail us.  Today may be one of those days, but I will do my best.  Last Sunday, while we were here at church in our worship service, the Lord chose to reach down and take Miss Linda Wilk’s hand as she was undergoing a test at the hospital.  I know that the “official” word is that she passed away early this past Friday morning after the machines were removed late Thursday evening.  But, I have a suspicion that she was already sitting at the feet of Jesus before we even left church that morning.

Think of it!  As we were arriving for Sunday School last week, at least one angel was preparing for an important mission.  He was being readied to be sent to retrieve Miss Linda’s spirit from within her failing body on the hospital exam table to be forever with the Lord.  This is not fanciful words, but the truth of the Scriptures.

It was my honor to sit with her family last Friday evening and see her very own plans for her celebration service she had laid out ahead of time.  She had even made copies for everyone to have.  That is Linda always ready to teach!

I pray this morning that your heart is ready to share in the Word together.  Nothing was more precious to her than teaching the Bible.  I cannot tell you how many times as she sat right there in the second row, that I would hear her either whisper or speak aloud something she thought I may have left out of a point in my sermon; only to have me respond to her, “You are getting ahead of me.  That’s the very next thing in my notes here.”  Her mouth almost always moved, mouthing the words of the passage along with me as I read Scriptures.  She also did an awful lot of signing to the songs up there as well while we sing the hymns.

Regardless of how much we will miss her for a little while until we see her again, the Lord had need of her and so that’s where she had to go.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”   II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro. Steve
