From Your Pastor's Heart - March 19, 2017

Good Morning Family!

“Busyness” can keep you from taking care of real business.  “Good enough” can replace the best.  “Urgent” can step into the place of the important.  And “direction” can be the enemy of purpose.

What is the real business of life that God wants you to be about?  What are some areas in your life that you have settled for “good enough”?  Are you too consumed with the urgent and are bypassing that which is important on your life?  Are you pursuing a direction in your life that is not fulfilling your God-ordained purpose?

I am not quite sure why I am asking these questions this morning, to be honest with you.  I think that I am like a lot of you when I say that I find myself coming and going a lot of the time.  And so, as I sat down to write my letter today, I suppose I am asking these questions of me and, as a bonus, you get to come along for the ride.

I know I am where God wants me and doing what He wants me to do.  I just wonder sometimes if I am missing dotting my I’s and crossing my T’s in the other areas of my life at times.  Am I the husband I need to be?  Am I the father I need to be?  Am I the extended family leader that God wants me to be?  Or have I become a hindrance in some of these areas through my attitudes, actions, or lack of actions?

How these questions can apply to you this morning is up to you.  I have no important insights in this letter today, only questions for us to ask ourselves.  Frequent self assessment with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God is imperative for the soul and so I guess what I do with these questions determines the value of writing this letter today.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro. Steve
