From Your Pastor's Heart - March 5, 2017

Good Morning Family!

March has certainly come in like a lion. Storms this week brought in February 28th and took us right into March 1st.  I hope no one had hail damage from the pounding some of us had the other day.  Our trees are not sure what to do with the warm weather and so they are doing what God has designed them to do, bloom and sprout buds in the warmth.

The Bradford Pears, Dogwoods, and Redbuds are a welcome sight to add color back into the bare branches of the forest that surrounds us.  The seasons come and go on the earth and in our lives as long as the Lord wills it to be so.  It is His design and plan for the things that grow as well as the pinnacle of His creation- you and me as long as we live in this body.

Each year we get older, and as time passes, we should also be growing closer to Him.  As the earth experiences seasons, so we seem to have seasons in our lives.  Some times we can experience many different seasons in a short period of time in our lives-like we have with the weather this winter.  At times, we are caught in a funk as David writes in Psalm 13, “How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily?”

That can be a lonely place to be.  And then in the middle of that cold season, warmth can break through like a 70 degree day after a cloudy high of 40 the day before.  That is not manic.  That is refreshing.  The last two verse of Psalm 13 end at 70 degrees with, “But I have trusted in Your mercy;   My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me.

Today, if you are one of those who happens to be in a winter day spiritually, throw a log on the fire from the Word of God and let its warmth begin to defrost you from the inside out and who knows, you may end up bringing “spring” to a friend in need.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro. Steve
