From Your Pastor's Heart - May 17, 2015

Good Morning Family,

This past week, I have been impressed with the power of prayer.  All of you should know how much your deacons care about you.  They are caretakers for the flock and they are a great benefit to your pastor.

This past Tuesday, as they gathered to meet, I was stirred to see them take their lists of families and individuals over which they have been given responsibility and pray for each of you by name.  Each of you who are in the deacon family ministry were lifted before the throne of God by name and were prayed for according to our knowledge of your particular needs.

As we prayed together, the Lord reminded us of the great responsibility that we have been given to care for your souls.  It also reminded me of the great responsibility with which we all have been entrusted as His church to care for each other and to take care for our ministry in this community.

The Lord brought more than several conversations into my path this week with different church members of specific needs in their lives, their concern for the body, and their concern for this community.  In the coming weeks, I see the Lord steering us away for at least a Sunday to have a family time together as a church to reaffirm the Father’s priorities, purpose, and pattern for the local church and how this applies to our body here in Cape Fair.  If the Lord leads, I anticipate taking time for this in the next week or so.

Questions a church must continually ask itself are:

  • If the Lord Jesus loved the church and gave Himself for it, what will be our response?
  • Is our compassion for the lost where it should be?
  • Are we doing our very best in sacrificially giving of ourselves for the work of the Kingdom?
  • Is there anything in our way, as individuals, that is keeping us from fulfilling our part in this mission to which He has called us here in Cape Fair?
  • What part does prayer play in all of this?

Just some questions for all of us to ponder in the meantime.

As always, my prayer is that we would all Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”    II Timothy 2:15.

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
