From Your Pastor's Heart - November 15, 2015

Greetings Family!

What a historic day in the life of our church last Sunday was!  I have no adjectives left in my vocabulary to express my heart in what we accomplished as the Lord lead us by His Spirit.  In one accord, what we did was to affirm our Baptist roots and heritage and proclaim our reliance upon the Word of God alone as our source for doctrine and practice.

First Baptist Church of Cape Fair is a local body of Christ that claims the name of “Christians” first, for we follow Christ and His Word alone through the power of the Holy Spirit.  And we also identify as “Baptist” in doctrine, for we believe that throughout the centuries, Christians who have identified as Baptist have been staunch believers in the complete inerrant, infallible and all-sufficient biblical record, doctrine, and church practices formulated by the Lord Jesus through His written Word revealed to the early church.

Last week, we affirmed that we will adhere to the biblical admonition to protect this local body by guarding against anything that would undermine the clear teachings of Scripture.  In accomplishing this goal, we followed the Lord’s unmistakable leading and declared this particular local Body of Christ to be non-affiliated with any groups, conventions, or organizations that promote teachings that are not clearly taught in the Scriptures.

We will, however, at times participate in missions endeavors, and joint projects with other churches or groups that hold the Scriptures in the highest of esteem, promote evangelism, emphasize prayer, and hold to a standard of godly living.  The bottom line is that we are FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of Cape Fair and shall faithfully remain so as we continue the work of the Lord until He comes again.

I believe the Lord has, is, and will continue to greatly bless your faithfulness to His Word, His people, and His mission of teaching the Gospel to the lost around us, here and abroad as we move on into the years together, Lord willing.

As always, my prayer is that we would all “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
