From Your Pastor's Heart - November 16, 2014

Dear Friends,

Today, we dig further into The Olivet Discourse, Jesus’ talk to His disciples on the Mount of Olives.  We have been looking at the signs of His coming again to earth to rule and to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.

Also, today we are going to celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.  This is a time that we celebrate often together as the Lord’s church in Cape Fair.  It is a time for family and if you are in Christ, you are family.  If you are a guest here today, we celebrate open communion, which means that you do not have to be a member of this particular church or even denomination to share with us.

Christ’s true church knows no walls and no national or ethnic boundaries.  Those that have come to Christ in godly sorrow for their sin with repentance and faith in His finished work on the cross alone for their salvation are, as the scripture says, “accepted in the Beloved”.  The Beloved One is Christ Himself.

As we drink from the cup and break the bread, let us remember the basis of our redemption from sin and the wrath of God.  It is all His doing.  Scripture alone tells us that we are saved by Christ alone, justified by His grace alone, trusting Him through faith alone, and living for His glory alone.

We remember His sacrifice.  We remember His words.  And today as we look at Matthew 24, we heed His warnings and look forward to His kingdom!  “Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!”

As always, my prayer is that we would all Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”    II Timothy 2:15.

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve

Dr. Steven Gann, Your Shepherd
