From Your Pastor's Heart - November 29, 2015

Good Morning Family!

I trust everyone had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends.  It seems like a long week in between when we do not have Wednesday activities due to the holidays.  We are looking forward to coming together as the church family again this morning.

The Sunday between Thanksgiving and the beginning of December is going to be a great time for getting ready for the Christmas season here at FBCCF.  Tonight, we will be gathering together in the sanctuary to decorate for Christmas.  Bring a few Christmas goodies, if you are able, and come share in the fun.  If you cannot bring anything snacky, don’t worry about it, we will have enough.

So, tonight, CHOIR REHEARSAL will be at 5:30 and then at 6:30, we will begin “trimming the tree”.

This year, for the four Sundays of December, we will be having a special theme each week having to do with the birth of Christ.  This has been commonly called the Advent season by western churches for centuries.  The origins of Advent are unclear, but the message is very clear.  We are living in anticipation of celebrating the advent of the Lord Jesus, the birth of the King.

The Advent season begins with the “Hanging of the Greens” which will occur tonight.  Evergreen trees and wreaths have always been associated with the eternal life that is found in Jesus.   Then, each Sunday from the 6th of December to December 27th, which we have designated as Christmas Sunday, we will have a special focus for each service with readings and lots of great Christmas music pointing toward each message focused on the coming of Christ into the world.

This is my favorite time of year as we celebrate the first coming of Jesus and know that He will be coming again soon as He said!

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”                    II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
