From Your Pastor's Heart - October 23, 2016

Good Morning Family,

During my time speaking with the High School students each week, I am going back to the basics.  It is good to do that once in a while to remind ourselves of why we are here and why we are to be doing the things we are doing.  We are looking at why Christ came to earth, what He gave up when He came, and what really happened on the cross.  We want to make sure we understand the Great Exchange that took place on that cross 2,000 years ago and how it is the pivotal point in all of history.

Also, a week ago Saturday, we sat down with the Young @ Heart group, those 50 years of age and over, as we shared collective ideas and dreams about how we can better minister to one another and minister to those in our community.  It was so great to hear hearts that greatly desire to see Christ lived out among the Body of Christ and in the world around us.  We will be expanding on some of those ideas in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes and ears open.

We are also running a steady crew on Wednesdays in our Children’s Ministry with about 35-40 children and youth each week.  It is so awesome to have such wonderful leaders and workers who care so much about the kids as they teach and lead Bible Study and worship.    What a great kitchen crew we have as well as people rotate in and out weekly to help cook, set up, and tear down.

I guess what I am trying to say is how proud I am of our church as we try to balance ministry and fellowship together.  Don’t forget to enjoy each other along the way in the work of the Lord.  Life is way too short to miss each other along the way.  I am so glad we have come to know all of you as family.  Each and every one of you has a special place in our hearts in the ministry here.

Even if, due to physical limitations,  your ministry is to simply come and be a part of Sunday School and worship services, that is a tremendous ministry to the Body of Christ.  By your very presence each week, you are an encouragement to the rest of us as you demonstrate your faithfulness to the Father and His church.   Your faithfulness to be with God’s people does not go unnoticed!

As always, my prayer is for you to, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”    II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve
