From Your Pastor's Heart - October 29, 2017

Good Morning Family,

November in 3 days!  Unbelievable!  We’ve already begun listening to Christmas music at our house and in the car.  No, we have not put out tree up yet.  That is later this week.  I mean let’s not get crazy…

Why should we not just burst at the seams this time of year?  This is the season that celebrates the coming to earth of Christ, Our Savior!  Have I used too many exclamation points?  Is this all a little too early for you?

I know with the world in the mess that it is in, there can seem to be little to be joyous about.  But, you recall, there was little about which to be joyous when Jesus was born in Bethlehem so many years ago.  The scene was corrupt politicians and chaotic government, a culture in which pleasure ruled the day, and as the scripture states, people were walking in darkness.

Sounds much like today, doesn’t it?  I know, you might be thinking, “Why is he talking about Christmas on October 29th?”  Well, every day we should celebrate the fact that God condescended to us in human form and came to live among us, love us, eat with us, laugh with us, wear our clothes, and breathe our air.  If it weren’t for the miraculous birth of Christ, we would never know the Light of the World or the Bread of Life; nor would we know of our desperate condition apart from Him.

I am so excited today as we look at the only recorded event in the life of Jesus as He grew to manhood.  As we walk through the text, I hope it not only tells us much of Him, but also much about ourselves.

As always, my prayer is that we would all Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth".           II Timothy 2:15                                                                                                                                                .
