From Your Pastor's Heart - September 13, 2015

Greetings Family!

I want to say a huge thanks to all who donated articles and time for the Church Yard Sale this past Saturday.  I am writing this on Friday, so I do not know, at the moment, how it turned out.  But, I know we will have had a good time putting it together and making it happen.  Thanks so much!

On this past Wednesday, I was able to spend a little bit of time in the end of the Children's Ministry program in the sanctuary as I had let my adult group out a few minutes early.  After I released my crew of folks, I walked over to the sanctuary to sit in on their prayer time.  It is encouraging to see our kids share their needs with their leaders and one another and trust the Lord with the concerns of their hearts.

I was once again thankful for those who work weekly with our children and youth.  The dedication of our weekly co-laborers in the Lord in those areas is amazing to watch and very much appreciated.  I thank you all so very much!

I also want to say thanks to those working in our music area.  We have made a few changes lately as to how we put the band together and arrange some of the music.  I am grateful for the hearts of worship that sit up on that platform weekly.  Rebekah, Robin, Clarence, and Elaine work very hard to put out a beautiful and joyful sound on their instruments and in their voices.  Each one has a specific way in which they contribute to the whole and combine together to produce praise through their hands and voices.  Take the time to personally thank them for their service to the Lord and their commitment to lead you in worship.

And, if I do not tell you enough, I am thankful for each of you as you come and join me in the study of God's Word.  It is so heartening to be a part of a local family of God that treasures the Scriptures above traditions, man's wisdom, the world's philosophies, and, at times, denominational misadventures.  Our first allegiance is to God's Holy Word and the subject of that Word: Jesus and His Glorious Gospel!

As always, my prayer is that we would all "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." II Timothy 2:15.

Humbly Yours,

Bro Steve

Dr. Steven Gann
