Good Morning Family!

Having begun our recent Tuesday 1:3ABF Gathering Series on “How We Got the Bible”, and teaching on the basics of how the Lord guided the process over centuries and now millennia to reveal and preserve His Word to people all over the world in so many different languages, it got me to thinking about how periodically it is good to cover foundational ground from time to time.

So, this morning, I want to teach on the meaning and the importance of Baptism in the life of a follower of Jesus.  Being what should be the first step in following Jesus, it has been the source of much misunderstanding and even misuse.   That said, I want us to spend a little time today looking at what the Bible says about it; and not what tradition or denominations might say about the scriptural command for believer’s baptism… what it is and what it is not.

This morning, we will also be sharing together in The Lord’s Supper.  Each time we set aside to participate in this together is a very special time.  It is never mundane or ritualistic or at least should not be.  So, let’s all take time to examine where we are with the Lord today and be sure that we fully recognize His sacrifice for us as we partake of the juice and the bread; for in those elements we find them as representations of His body that was broken for us and His blood that was shed for our sins.  It is through His atonement on the cross that we have the possibility and availability to be saved from a hopeless eternity and to know the Father.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”   II Timothy 2:15

Humbly Yours,

Bro. Steven
