From Your Pastor's Heart - December 11, 2022

Good Morning Family!

This morning you will get your first offering of music from the FBC Choir for 2022.  They have been working very hard on the musical and on a few more pieces they will sing for us through the next few weeks.  I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Mike Linder, our Choir Director for putting this all together and for using his gifts for the building up of the Body of Christ through this ministry at Christmas.  Also, a big thank you goes to the dedicated members of the choir.  They have been here each week on Sunday evenings through the holidays “pounding parts” and then “putting their hearts” into the music. And none of it would be possible without our accompanists, Elaine Llewellyn and Robin Gann, who have tirelessly worked on the instrumental side of this ministry not only every week, but have taken on the task of playing for the musical to accompany the choir as well as a few other Christmas specials.  That’s a lot of music to play and we appreciate both of you more than you can imagine.

I am also thankful for those in our church body who use their musical giftings whether vocally or instrumentally to encourage and bless us with music specials not only at Christmas, but all year through.  We don’t say it near enough, but we are so grateful for your willingness to rehearse, work hard on your craft, and share your music with all of us in our services.

This Christmas season, we are using the standard themes of Advent to look at “The Settings of Advent”.  Each Sunday, we have been going to a different location and seeing how that particular theme intersects with the individuals in those places in the Christmas narrative and what that means for us today. And along the way, I have been sharing from my Christmas vinyl collection just to hopefully touch some of our hearts and reminisce just a bit.  I am keeping the entire themes set in my letter for the month, that way you can see where we have been and where we are going.

First Sunday, November 27       LOVE… Love is Born in the City of David

Second Sunday, December 4     HOPE… Hope is Sought in the East

Third Sunday, December 11      JOY… Joy is Abounding in the Heavenlies

Fourth Sunday, December 18    PEACE… Peace is Proclaimed in the Fields

Fifth Sunday, December 25       CHRIST… Emmanuel is Found in the Manger

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”   II Timothy 2:15

God Bless Us… Every One!
