Good Morning Family!

Even though we have been on hiatus from our Wednesday Night activities from the week before Christmas now until January 21st, there has been plenty happening around here during the week.

This past Thursday, we celebrated the homegoing of Marilyn Fortner. Marilyn has been in assisted living for a few years now, so that is why those who are still relatively new may not have known her.  But Marilyn was a fixture at First Baptist Church since its founding in the little “giraffe rock” building just west of our present location.  She faithfully brought her family here and worked in ministries of the church for all those years.

When Robin, Holly, and I came here in February 2014, now nearly 12 years ago, she was our Sunday School secretary.  She had a little desk in what is now Tracy’s office and faithfully set out the roll sheets and then collected them, along with ringing the bell for many years.  Marilyn always had a smile on her face and was very encouraging to all around her.

It was an honor to be a part of her celebration of life service this past week and many great memories were shared.  Her family was very grateful for the church providing not only the venue for her service, but they were so grateful for the family meal that was served by our Kitchen crew for the day.  You ladies that not only prepared food, but those who served it, and cleaned up afterward are treasures!  It was a long day for all, but your heart of service was evident to the family of Marilyn.  It was a good day and thank you so much.

As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”               II Timothy 2:15
