Good Morning Family,
The temps do not feel like it, but we are in the summer home-stretch until school begins here in a few weeks. In addition to that, we have Promotion Sunday coming up later in August with the official start of another Sunday School year. I know the adults will not be promoting to new classes, but our students will and so each Fall we see it as a new beginning for our young people and for us, as adults, I still feel the beginning of school as a new start and a time to reset even for us.
Our first drive-thru Great Grocery Giveaway was this past Wednesday Night. Convoy of Hope has supplied us with bags of groceries to give away this summer and after receiving nearly 350 bags, we now have around 100 remaining. This last week, we gave out over 150 bags to individuals in our community. This is a very tangible way for us to be the light of Jesus in the Cape Fair area. There are no strings attached. We did however give out information about FBCCF ministries, but no pressure to attend, no collecting of any names, no screening of people before giving groceries; just simply giving to meet needs. We will give away the remaining 100 in a few weeks.
It was an evening of connecting with some folks we have never encountered before and also we were able to reconnect with a few that we see from time to time. Sincere expressions of gratitude were the norm from every car that pulled through. We were counting bags going out, but I lost track of the number of vehicles. I even received a call at the end of the night from an individual who had heard about it, but had no vehicle running to be able to come. I knew of the address from previous ministry and so we took four bags out to the family and were able to reconnect after not seeing them for a while.
As always, my prayer is that we would all “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15.
