Good Morning Family!
Beginning this morning, we will start on the “Road to Calvary”. Usually, we would begin looking at the events leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection on Palm Sunday, April 2nd. However, this year, I want to begin today focusing our attention on some aspects of the events leading up to Christ’s sacrifice for us on the cross. Much like we do at Christmas time in the weeks leading up to Christmas Day, I want to begin our focus on the meaning of this season as well a few weeks ahead of time.
I do want to say a few words about our annual Good Friday Service at 6:30pm on April 7th. It is a very quiet and reflective time filled with much scripture reading, as well as music that will pull our attention to the events and meaning behind the last hours of the life of Jesus leading up to and including the crucifixion. This year, the choir will join in the service for the first time to help us properly focus on the Lord and His sacrifice for us. Also, on that evening, we will certainly share in the Lord’s Supper together as we remember Him and His great love for us. Please make plans to attend.
I pray now this morning as we gather for worship and the teaching of the Word, that we will be able to see the incredible love of God in Christ as He “steadfastly set His face toward Jerusalem” knowing what lay ahead. It was for the events of what we celebrate as Good Friday and Resurrection Day/Easter that He came into the world, and nothing would keep Him from fulfilling His purpose.
As always, my prayer is that we would all, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15
Humbly Yours,
